English

This is a motto I choose to live by every single day. It amazed me to have a high school acquaintance point out that ever since she could remember I’d always been really good in English. I mean sure I took honors and a.p. courses, but I did so begrudgingly. I wanted to be known as the girl who got through high school with a 3.0 or above based on her hardwork. Not because she got her grades boosted by a few extra points.

So to hear from this individual that she was jealous of my understanding of a class she herself felt was so difficult. Filled me with a happiness i had never known. To me English was a course I feared failing on a daily basis. Mostly because I have never been one for public speaking. I never thought that the ease in which I understood Shakespeare would someday be my calling. When I wrote “Gift of Sight” with my good friend Ellen Floyd I never dreamed of publishing it or even letting anyone else read it at all. That was until she died. I knew that I had to let others see the creative spirit she possessed.

So it is in her memory that I dedicate “Gift of Sight”.
Ellen “Ellie” Rose Floyd : August 23rd – April 10th.
